The East Torrens District Cricket Club is a foundation member of the South Australian Cricket Association. We are located in the north eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Our home ground is Campbelltown Memorial Oval, in the suburb of Paradise, within the Campbelltown City Council.

East Torrens plays in the SACA Grade Cricket Competition. This is the top level of cricket within the state of South Australia, and is the direct step below First Class cricket. For more information on SACA, and cricket in South Australia, visit the SACA website.

Good luck to MC at the ICC Under 19 World Cup!

East Torrens wishes the best of luck to Michael Cranmer as he represents his country at the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia. After a highly successful National Under 19 Carnival for SA, Michael was picked in the Australian squad for the World Cup which runs from February 17th to March 2nd 2008. Do well MC, we know you'll make your Club, State and Country proud!

Girls C Grade Twenty20 team - Premiers!

Well done to our girls Twenty20 team as they beat Sturt in their Grand Final to take out the C Grade Twenty20 premiership for 2007/08! East Torrens successfully chased down Sturt's score of 7/104, to finish with 6/108 in the 20th over. Belinda Seaton took 3/15 with the ball while Melanie Smith (32) and Teena Leicester (25) top-scored for the Reds. Well done girls!

Aaron Mullins announced as SACA Rising Star for Round 10

East Torrens left arm orthodox spin bowler Aaron Mullins has been selected as the Grade Cricket Rising Star for Round 10. Sixteen year old Mullins went into the Round 10 encounter with Kensington after successfully representing South Australia in the Under 17 national championships. Mullins, who was also part of South Australia’s victorious Under 17 team last season, was the leading wicket taker (23 wickets at 13.04) and was named as a member of the team of the championships. Batting first in their Round 10 fixture against Kensington, the Reds posted a moderate 233, of which Mullins chipped in with a patient 19 (and partnership of 43 with Mark Eichler) whilst batting at number 9. Although the Browns were able to chase down East Torrens’ score, Mullins once again displayed his talents by taking 5 wickets for 42 from 16.3 overs. Mullins, who was also a nominee for the Grade Cricket Rising Star last season (when he took 4 wickets on debut in Round 12), joins fellow team mates Michael Cranmer, Matthew Lovell and Daniel Leigh in the running for the 2007/08 Jason Gillespie Medal, which will be presented at the Bradman Medal Presentation on 19 March 2008.

Luke Hynes-Bishop is the SACA Junior Cricketer of the Round for Round 8

An unbeaten century from East Torrens’ Luke Hynes-Bishop has secured him with selection as the Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round for Round 8. Currently undefeated, East Torrens Under 16 Red team played Sturt at the SA Youth Training Centre in their Round 8 encounter. Batting first, the Blues were restricted to 141 runs, with Luke assisting the East Torrens’ bowlers by taking three catches. In reply, East Torrens had slumped to 3/37 when Luke came to the crease. In a chanceless match winning innings, Luke smashed 101 not out from just 75 deliveries. His innings, which included twelve 4’s and six 6’s, steered the home side to victory and cemented their place on top of the ladder. Luke’s century was his second for the season after scoring an even 100 the previous week for East Torrens’ Under 16 White team. As a result of his performance, Luke has automatically been selected in the Powerade Junior Team of the Year and will be awarded a 'Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round' pack at a function at the Adelaide Oval later in the season. He joins two other East Torrens nominees; Scott Blackmore (Under 16 White) and Anthony Bishop (Under 16 Red).

Anthony Bishop awarded SACA Junior Cricketer of the Round for Round 7

A match winning century from East Torrens’ Anthony Bishop has secured his selection as the Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round for Round 7. Coming to the crease with the Red’s struggling at 2/13, 104 runs in arrears of Adelaide’s total, Anthony needed to steady the innings for the Reds to maintain their undefeated record. The fifteen year old went on to make 103 not out from 131 balls, which included 15 fours. In what was an exciting finish to the days play, Anthony needed to score 10 runs from the last over to bring up his first century for East Torrens. The Reds finished the day at 8/189. As a result of his performance, Anthony has automatically been selected in the Powerade Junior Team of the Year and will be awarded a 'Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round' pack at a function at the Adelaide Oval later in the season.

Reds uncover yet another Rising Star in Daniel Leigh

East Torrens' Daniel Leigh has been selected as the SACA Grade Cricket Rising Star for Round 8. Needing a win against higher placed Sturt to stay in the hunt for a finals birth, the Red’s batted first and made a competitive 256 runs on the first day. In reply, the Blues set off at a cracking pace and looked to be in control, but it was Leigh’s efforts which saw the game swing East Torrens' way. Taking 4/20 from 19.2 overs, Leigh took the key early wicket of opener Jason Borgas as well as Mark Littlewood, before bowling ‘at the death’ to dismiss the last two batters. Sturt were eventually all out 10 runs short of East Torrens’ score. Eighteen year old Leigh has been at East Torrens his entire Grade career, beginning in the Ray Sutton Shield and Under 14 White grades. Leigh has also represented East Torrens in the BankSA Shield competition and last season, was named in this competitions Team of the Year. With just a handful of senior grade matches, Leigh will look to focus on Grade Cricket this season after representing Rostrevor College in the First XI team for many years. Leigh’s nomination sees him join a group of other young talented players from East Torrens, including Round 1 Rising Star nominee Michael Cranmer and Round 4 nominee Matthew Lovell.

Scott Blackmore earns SACA Junior Cricketer of the Round Award

A sensational 9 wicket haul, including 7/19 from 6 overs, has secured East Torrens District Cricket Club’s Scott Blackmore the Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round award for Round 5. Playing as captain of the Under 16 Whites for the first time, as well as opening the bowling and the batting, Scott took 2/17 from 9 overs (including 3 maidens) in the first innings, then backed up this effort with 7/19 in the second innings, which included the scalps of the majority of Tea Tree Gully’s top order. The fifteen year old left arm bowler consistently bowled a full length and swung the ball late into the right-handers. On two occasions Scott had the opportunity to take a hat-trick. In their first innings, the Reds made a competitive 158 runs. In reply, Tea Tree Gully (who were currently third on the premiership table) slumped to be all out for 77, Scott claiming the opener’s wicket and finishing with figures of 2/17. After making a quick fire 5/106 before declaring, the Red’s sent the Bulls into bat again with just 22 overs remaining. Scott then ripped through their line up, clean bowling 5 players. The Bulls finished the day at 9/84, leaving the Reds agonisingly short of claiming the outright victory. As a result of his performance, Scott has automatically been selected in the Powerade Junior Team of the Year and will be awarded a 'Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round' pack at a function at the Adelaide Oval later in the season.

Matthew Lovell named as SACA Rising Star for Round 4

A match winning bowling performance by 20 year old East Torrens’ opening bowler Matthew Lovell was enough to secure the Grade Cricket Rising Star nomination for Round 4. Matthew took 5/62 from 19.1 overs against Glenelg last Saturday, a performance that not only steered his team to a 33 run victory over the Seahorses but also catapulted the Reds' into 4th position on the premiership table. After the first 4 rounds of the XXXX Gold Grade Competition, Matthew is currently the leading Grade Cricket wicket taker with 19 wickets at an average of 17.95 and strike rate of 33.7. Matthew began his career at East Torrens in season 2000/01 in the Under 14 Reds and made his A Grade debut last season. Hampered by a back injury in his debut year, a strong pre-season has ensured his fitness for 2007/08. We congratulate Matthew Lovell on his selection as the Grade Cricket Rising Star for Round 4. Matthew joins East Torrens team mate Michael Cranmer (Round 1), in the running for the Jason Gillespie Medal for the Grade Cricket Rising Star of the Year.

Big weekend for Reds with 10 out of 11 wins!

Round 2 of the Seniors and Round 1 of the Juniors brought East Torrens 10 wins out of a possible 11. Victories in the A, C, and D Grades, both Under 16 and Under 14 sides, as well as the Ray Sutton Shield, XXXX Gold One Day Cup and Women's C Grade completed a fantastic two days for the Reds. Highlights in the Seniors included Craig Bradbrook (88) and Matthew Lovell (6 for 31 and 3 for 67) in the A's, Sean Mason (7 for 54) in the B's, Daniel Cocks (5 for 26 and 5 for 48) in the C's and James Alder (94) and Darren Miller (80*) in the D's.

Michael Cranmer named as SACA Rising Star for Round 1

Eighteen year old East Torrens batsman Michael Cranmer has been announced as the Grade Cricket Rising Star Nominee for Round 1. Michael joins Aaron Mullins and Dylan Brown who were also Rising Star nominees last season. A right hand batsman who also bowls some handy medium pacers, Cranmer started his Grade cricket career in the Reds' Under 14 White team in 2001/02 and made his A Grade debut in Round 12 last season. Batting at number 4 in East Torrens opening A Grade fixture for 2007/08 against University, Cranmer scored 55 runs from 123 deliveries, in an innings that lasted over two hours. He then followed up his maiden A Grade half century with an unbeaten 36 in East Torrens second innings. Introduced last season, the Grade Cricket Rising Star Award was introduced to acknowledge the outstanding performances of some of the young players within our Grade Cricket Competition. Each round, a player under the age of 23, having played less than 20 A Grade matches (including XXXX Gold One Day matches) is selected as the Grade Cricket Rising Star for that Round. From these nominations, a Grade Cricket Rising Star of the Year is selected. This player will be awarded the Jason Gillespie Medal at the Bradman Medal Presentation on Wednesday 19 March 2008. We congratulate Michael on being selected as the Round 1 nominee.
